Description The KF940 portable horn-loaded subwoofer system otherwise known as the "Super-Sub" has created a new level of sub bass performance by loading two specially designed 12 in woofers with a horn with an exponentially expanding throat that is over 13 ft long. Great care has been taken to create woofer cones that could withstand the force of being loaded with such a large horn. As an impedance matching device the horn brings the 1 watt @ 1 meter sensitivity of the system at 100 Hz to 113 dB SPL. The KF940\'s horn uses a construction technique that allows us to create horns with the necessary complex expansion rates. The complex flares are constructed from a 3 mm veneer of birch plywood that is fit into slots cut by our computer-numeric-controlled router. The birch veneer is then backed with a proprietary anti-resonance high-damping polyurethane foam making the horn acoustically opaque.

Applications The KF940 provides extremely high levels of tight punchy bass to the lowest octave of human hearing. It is engineered for use in arrays of four or more modules. The horns of multiple enclosures couple acoustically to create a single larger horn that increases output and provides directivity to very low frequencies. A word of warning: high levels of low frequency information can and do cause intestinal distress. Please use these devices with caution.
